A new vernacular house on sloping 2 acres and an existing outdated pool are brought into harmony with a creative layout of traditional and innovative materials. The pool deck is partially surfaced with salvaged bluestone however lawn was brought up to the coping in some areas to soften the pool area and give it a more spacious feel. A pergola stands within the lawn, and the pool area is enclosed with a fence concealed with plantings. The grade changes around the house are carefully controlled by field stone walls and bluestone steps. A formal terrace addresses an exterior fireplace. A hawthorne grove at the entry compliments the vernacular architecture.
